Teaching tango begins with awareness. Through movement, biomechanics, attention, psychology, musicality and human connection, you explore tango at a deeper level — and develop your own understanding rather than simply copying somebody else’s.
When you begin teaching, something else happens: you get to open that door for other people. You may watch someone arrive unable to imagine themselves as a dancer and gradually become more confident, connected and at home in their body and their community.
Your tango can change you. Teaching gives you the opportunity to pass that possibility on.

A language for understanding tango.
At Tango Amistoso, we approach tango as a language. Movements provide vocabulary; underlying principles provide grammar; musicality, connection and creativity allow us to turn them into conversation.
Our Grammar Points provide a shared language for observing, understanding and discussing what is happening in tango. They are not rules for how you must dance.
Use them. Question them. Adapt them. Develop new ones. The objective is to give you tools with which to discover and articulate your own tango.

The practical questions.
Do I have to want to become a teacher?
No. Teaching is one possible outcome. Committed dancers can join to deepen their dancing and understanding.
Who is the programme for?
It is designed for serious advancing and advanced dancers, aspiring teachers, existing teachers and community leaders. As a guide, participants would normally have around three or more years of consistent tango experience.
Can I join from outside the UK?
Yes. The programme supports hybrid and international participation through Tango Maitri, online study and selected in-person intensives and seminars.
Do I need a dance partner?
No. You may enrol individually or with a regular partner. Individual development and partner rotation remain important parts of the programme.
Is the business module compulsory?
No. It is optional and intended for people who want to build or grow a school, community or professional tango project.
What makes this different from a workshop?
Rather than teaching isolated material, the programme develops long-term understanding, frameworks, teaching skills and the ability to analyse, adapt and create.
