Teaching tango through connection, movement and music

Winston Veerender is the founder and lead teacher of Tango Amistoso, a friendly Argentine tango school and community in London. His teaching brings together serious study, practical social-dance experience and a belief that tango should be welcoming, understandable and available to everyone.

Winston teaches tango as a language rather than a collection of memorised steps. His Grammar Points system helps dancers understand awareness, integrated movement and the three-step communication between partners. This gives students a framework for improvisation, musicality and connection that can grow with them from their first class to advanced dancing.

His approach is informed by more than two decades of teaching and movement practice, including his background as a yoga teacher. He pays close attention to posture, balance, body organisation and the quality of the embrace, while encouraging each dancer to develop an individual voice.

At the heart of Winston’s work is community. He founded Tango Amistoso to create a place where friendship, high-quality dancing and serious learning reinforce one another. He teaches regular group classes, advanced seminars, private lessons and teacher training in London.
