Milongas in London
WHAT IS A PRACTICA?
A Practica is a place where Tango dancers come together to practice, work and refine their tango skills. It’s a more informal place to dance Tango, and in general more relaxed compared to dancing at a milonga.
For example, it’s OK to talk during the dance, and impeding traffic within reason while you work on a step is accepted. A practica is your opportunity to improve, develop and integrate what you have been learning at your private lessons and group classes
WHAT IS A MILONGA?
Milongas is where we enjoy dancing Tango socially and have a great time dancing and chatting with our friends. (there is NO teaching and practising happening on a social dance floor).
People come as individuals or with a (dance)partner. And the music is usually played in tandas (sets of 3 or 4 songs of the same orchestra). In-between the tandas the DJ will play cortinas, a short musical break (20-40 sec long) of non-tango music. This is the moment where people normally change partners or take a break.
